Best time to visit

Throughout the year, the weather in the Maldives is hot and sunny. Between November and April is the greatest time to visit, with December being the busiest month. From May through October, the monsoon season is in full swing.

Note that the weather in September is simply ideal: hot, with a slight wind and nice enough to experience all of the Maldives had to offer.

A Maldives Villa

Enjoy a Maldives famous villa

The overwater villas with direct access to the sea are one of the Maldives’ most famous features. Staying in one is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one of the best things to do in the Maldives.

The rooms are enormous, with the most luxurious beds; there is a plunge pool and a sunbathing deck, as well as a back-of-house jacuzzi. The air and the water are the only sounds one can hear. And the vista is absolutely breathtaking. If you have the budget, a villa is the ultimate Maldives stay.

Underwater Spa

Spa day

When visiting the Maldives, those wanting total relaxation should book a spa treatment. Many Maldivian resorts have their own spa, which uses island-sourced materials like papaya, seaweed, and pineapple in their treatments. Traditional massages and facials are available, as well as specialty therapies including citrus moisturizing body treatments, tailored acupuncture and chakra balancing. Huvafen Spa, the world’s first underwater spa, is located in the Maldives. In addition, a few resorts offer yoga courses to complement the spa’s relaxation and health services.

A Dhoni

A ride on a Dhoni

Dhoni is the traditional Maldivian primary mode of transportation and one should definitely experience riding a dhoni when in the Maldives. Between Malé and the airport, there is also a fleet of these ubiquitous wave bouncers. Dhonis, which were once made of coconut wood, are now made of imported wood and are significantly more stable. Did you know that the dhonis’ beat is a key part of Maldivian music?

Snorkeling

One of the most popular Maldives attractions is its marine life, and snorkeling is one of the best things to do in the Maldives. You’ll see a stunning array of colorful fish and corals as soon as you get in the water. Experience the one of a kind underwater life!

Parasailing

Try water sports! After a short boat voyage, the sail will be spread for you, and you will be up and flying. It lasts 15 minutes and is really stunning. It’s a fantastic experience, and seeing the Maldives from above is a must! It is truly one of the most enjoyable activities in the Maldives.

Diving

When visiting the Maldives, diving is an absolute necessity. If you don’t have a license, you’ll only be able to dive to a depth of 12 meters, but even then, the marine life is incredible — you’ll encounter sharks, eagle rays, and a variety of other species. Do not worry, most sharks in the Maldives are not aggressive and when you’re diving with an instructor, everything you need to do is well explained.

Malé – Maldives’ Capital

Visiting Malé

Last but not least, learn about the local culture. The Maldives’ capital isn’t exactly a popular tourist destination, but if you’re looking for a true local experience, make it a point to visit. The local fruit and vegetable market, as well as the adjoining fish market, are the most interesting sites to visit since you can see a lot of action and get a peek of the primary items of local cuisine.

We hope you have a great time there!

Safe travels 🙂
